2023 Spring Mixed Doubles Registration
is closed for regularly scheduled spots.
You can still sign up as a substitute!
Cedarbrook Mixed-Doubles Information
Cedarbrook Mixed-Doubles offers pre-arranged doubles games with players of similar levels each week.
We play on Saturdays at 2pm, 4pm, Sundays at 9am, 4pm, and 6pm, and 6:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays (6:00 in May and August), for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
You select which days you are not available, and you will be scheduled to play once or twice a week as you prefer and as space allows.
It’s a great way to meet new players and have a weekly game set up for you.
There will be a limit in number accepted – all interested (USTA 3.0-4.0) players are urged to register before the program fills up.
The prices for 2023 are:
- Regularly scheduled player (Cedarbrook Member) – $55
- Regularly scheduled player (Non-Member) – $110
- Substitute player (Cedarbrook Member) – $20
- Substitute player (Non-Member) – $40
If you aren’t sure that you want to commit, WE ALWAYS NEED SUBS. It’s an easy way to dip your toe in the tennis court water.
Additionally, while we hope it is not necessary, the board reserves the right to suspend or discontinue the right of any person to participate in the adult mixed doubles league. Any individual who believes the conduct of another participant may warrant such action should report their concerns to the board or a board member in writing.
The Cedarbrook board recognizes that the Cedarbrook Adult Mixed Doubles League is comprised by adults who, under most circumstances, are fully capable of handling any disputes on the court. It also recognizes that while this is a recreational league, there is a level of competitiveness to be expected, particularly among more advanced participants. Nevertheless, the Board expects all participants to conduct themselves properly and to the furthest extent possible, in accordance with the ITF Rules of tennis and USTA Code (Players Guide to unofficiated matches) and the general statement of the Rules of Tennis Etiquette. These can be found at the following web sites:
Scheduling Play for the League
- The scheduler should first attempt to schedule all participants for at least one match per week, regardless of whether the participant is a member of the club or not.
- Members who have stated a desire to play two or more times per week should get priority for one additional spot per week if available.
- Thereafter any nonmember should be scheduled for a second match per week if requested.
- If open spots still remain, available members will be given priority in filling those remaining spots.
Ratings Guidance:
2.0 This player may have had some lessons but needs on-court experience; has obvious stroke weaknesses but is beginning to feel comfortable with singles and doubles play.
2.5 This player has dependable strokes and is learning to judge where the ball is going. Has weak court coverage or is often caught out of position, but is starting to keep the ball in play.
3.0 This player can place shots with moderate success; can sustain a rally of slow pace but is not comfortable with all strokes. Lacks control when trying for power.
3.5 This player has achieved stroke dependability and direction on shots within reach, including forehand and backhand volleys, but still lacks depth and variety. Seldom double faults and occasionally forces errors on the serve.
4.0 This player had dependable strokes on both forehand and backhand side; has the ability to use a variety of shots including lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys. Can place the first serve and force some errors; is seldom out of position in a doubles game.
