CEDARBROOK TENNIS 2008

I hope all of you are ready for another great season of tennis at Cedarbrook this year. I am looking

forward to coming back as your Head Pro, and seeing you at the newly resurfaced courts

which should be ready by the end of May. Our Mixed Doubles Round Robin was very popular

last year and we hope to plan more Mixed Doubles this season. Please be on the lookout for

postings of these events. Please also remember that you must only wear tennis sneakers
on the courts. No running shoes or other types of black soled shoes are allowed on the
courts. We now have ball machine rental by reservation only, so call me if you are interested.

We will have a lot of people playing tennis this year, so please remember to sign up in advance

for your courts. You can only sign up ONE WEK IN ADVANCE (except for pro reserving courts

for lessons). In Spring Season, Pro uses Courts 1 and 2 for classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:15-8:00 pm. During Summer Session,

Pro uses Courts 1 and 2 for classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00—8:30 pm. Please check the sign-up book located in the gazebo for

most current information.

Spring Fling will be a sign-up for SUMMER season only. You'll find the sign-up form for the spring session in this mailing. Please call me

first (Mike at 301-962-7475) to check for openings and to make sure you're enrolling in the correct class.

Also, new this year is the Advanced Junior Team Clinic which will meet on Saturday afternoons for about 7 weeks starting June 16th. Call

Mike for details.

Lesson Prices in 2008 - Private - $25 per ½ hour or $50 per hour. Semi-Privates - $15 each per ½ hour or $30 each per hour. Groups –

Per Hour – 3 people- $22; 4 people- $19; 5 people - $18; and 6 people- $17. If you are interested in private or semi-private lessons, or in

starting a group not on the schedule, please call and I'll find a time for you with one of the instructors.

I will have new 2008 demo racquets that you are welcome to try out. I also have many other tennis accessories. I can

order most adult and junior racquets, as well as other accessories (grips, shoes, etc.) I also have access to a professional

stringing service. Again, if you have any questions concerning tennis at Cedarbrook, please don't hesitate to call me!

Cedarbrook Summer Tennis Camp is Back!

A number of places are still available at Cedarbrook’s 2008 Tennis Camp. If you are interested in registering your child for

one of the camps listed, please phone Mike on 301/962-7475 to find out if there are spaces left in the camp of your choice.

¨ Session 1 — June 16 -20 (no camp on Thursday June 19th), 2:00—5:00 pm. Cost $140. Non-members will be admitted

starting May 3rd.

¨ Session 2 — cancelled

¨ Session 3 — August 18-22, 8:00—11:30 am. Cost $175. Non-members will be admitted June 30th.

Reminder: No camper will be admitted without a check made out to Cedarbrook Inc. for the full camp amount. Please mail

CEDARBROOK JUNIOR TENNIS TEAM

(AGES 9 AND UP)

Cedarbrook is pleased to be part of the Montgomery County Junior Tennis League. Just as Cedarbrook encourages

our kids to swim, we also encourage them to participate in tennis. Not all team members play in all the matches; however,

all team members come to practice. This is a great low-cost opportunity for kids to learn more about tennis. Joining

the team will earn you a 10% discount on other tennis class fees. It costs $40.00 to join the team for the spring and

summer. We would like to have a list of team members before Spring Fling weekend. If you have any questions about

Practice Times:
SPRING Age 12-18 3:45-5:15 Thursdays for six weeks (4 in spring, 2 in late summer)

May 22-June 12 Beginning May 22 thru June 12 and also July 31 and August 7

(and July 31/Aug 7) Age 9-12 5:15-6:30 Thursdays for six weeks (4 in spring, 2 in late summer)

Beginning May 22 thru June 12 and also July 31and August 7

SUMMER Age 9-10 4:30 -6:00 Thursdays six weeks beginning June 19

June 19-July 24

Age 11-13 2:00 -3:45 Thursdays six weeks beginning June 19

MATCHES Most matches will be played on Tuesdays starting on June 17th. The matches will start at 12pm.

Rain dates will be scheduled on Thursdays.

End of season picnic will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd starting between 4:00 and 4:30.

Tennis Lessons

Jordan Fein, who is a Cedarbrook Member and has just finished his first year at Northwestern, will be teaching at Cedarbbrook this summer and very early fall too. For those who do not know Jordan, he is a great tennis player, was ranked very high on the Blair tennis team, and loves teaching juniors too. In addition to these classes we are trying to start, (see below)Jordan will have time for privates semi-privates and if you would like to form a new class with Jordan, not listed here , please call Mike at 301-962-7455. Wed. 4:30 to 5:30 - June 25th to July 30 -Young beginner ages 7 to 8 or Older Juniors age 9 and 10, (whichever starts filling first will go). Rain Date August 6th. 6 Lesson class. Will take up to 5 kids.

Wed. 5:30 to 6:15 - June 25th to July 30 - Tiny Tots ages 5 and 6 Rain Date August 6th. 6 Lesson Class. Will take up to 5 kids.

Friday 3:15 to 4:15 - June 27th to August 1 - Young Beginner ages 7 to 8 or Older Juniors age 9 and 10, (whichever starts filling up first will go). No Class July 4th. Rain Date August 8th. Will take up to 5 kids. 5 Lessons.

Tennis Clinic for Advanced Players

NEW THIS YEAR!!

Starting this Saturday, June 28th, and going through July 19th, I will be teaching a clinic for Advanced players, ages 13 and up.

The clinic will only take place if I have at least four players. I will take up to six players (maybe up to eight later on).

If you are interested, you need to reserve a spot each week by calling me at (301) 962-7475 . First call, first to get a spot.

The clinic this Saturday, June 28th, will be 11:30 - 1:00. Times may vary in later weeks.
